The Basics
I have a zero-tolerance policy for bigotry and jerks.
I prefer to write with people over the age of 21.
I enjoy writing longform roleplay posts, but I can adjust to shorter if need be!
If we're writing together and you'd like to chat and/or plot more, please ask for my Discord.
Notes
Writing is one of my main forms of self-care, so let's try to make it an enjoyable experience for each other. I work in game development, so I'm often busy, but I will always try to make time in the evenings for in-game roleplaying.
Please feel free to hit me up if you’d like to roleplay with Seraphin. I love writing and can never get enough, but adulting means I have to be picky about what I can and can’t maintain thread-wise.
Discord is my personal preference for lengthy scenes, since it allows me to pause if needed for IRL stuff. I will absolutely roleplay in-game, but if you want a longer thread, let’s exchange usernames.

History
Early Years
Seraphin and his twin sister, Soraya, know little about their birth and even less about the man who fathered them. While the group that they were, theoretically, members of scraped out a living by growing medicinal mushrooms and crystals, the Bourreau family lived in almost total solitude. With rare exceptions, their entire life and world was confined to the chambers they shared with their mother in ruins beneath the Shroud. Their mother was a fanatical, strange woman, and she prevented her children from interacting with others, attempting to enforce a worldview of mistrust and constant danger. She told them many lies about the state of the world beyond their doorway and the intentions of others. The twins, of course, believed their mother's lies... To a point. As they grew older, they began to realize that many of her stories were inconsistent or downright conflicting. In the interest of maintaining control, Mother Bourreau used many forms of manipulation to keep her children under her sway. The male twin, Seraphin, was most often the victim of her worst machinations, for he was less skilled at feigning acquiescence than his sister. He was also the physically weaker of the two, often plagued by a wracking cough that would keep him abed. Whilst Soraya was allowed to rarely venture forth to desolate, abandoned spaces to learn archery and do physical activity, Seraphin was nearly constantly under his mother's eye and only allowed to pursue the less strenuous pastimes of studying and drawing. In art, he found refuge and power, for he could conjure entire worlds with charcoal that his mother and sister could not poison. Thus did the twins live their lives, and likely would have continued to do so, had tragedy not struck. After a brief illness, their mother passed away, leaving her two children alone in a world she had raised them to fear. Soraya was the one to leave their home and venture into the greater catacombs their people resided within, finding others to help them put their mother to rest. Seraphin, on the other hand, remained within, gripped with paralyzing fear of what might happen should he step outside their door. His sister was derisive when she saw this, and while her words were cruel, her disdain ignited a fire within him: He would not be outdone by Soraya in this, at least. As she easily fell in with the rest of their group's hunters and people, leaving him on the shadowed outskirts, he steeled himself to go forth to the surface to find a place he might truly belong...And, perhaps, new worlds to paint.
Bonds

Vontros Lavendal
The first male Duskwight figure in Seraphin's life. He has provided much for him in a very short time: A refuge, resources he needs to produce his art, and the promise of tutelage in aether manipulation that he never had while growing up. His feelings toward the man are a mix of a puppy-dog crush and a sense of awe.

Hooks

Wallflower
Seraphin is often found clinging to the outskirts of things, watching the goings-on from the safety of the shadows. While he generally won't respond to an approach with hostility, he is easily flustered and often off-balance with new people. If your character is the curious sort, or the type to pry someone out of their shell, an approach may be worthwhile-- Just be prepared to deal with some shyness.
Artist
Seraphin's sketchbook is his near constant companion. While he most often uses charcoal to capture his subjects in the field, he can occasionally be found indulging himself with paints when the opportunity arises. Your character is most likely to find him sketching something out of nature, but he has recently begun to practice drawing people and places from his preferred quiet corners. Whether or not he'll allow your character to see his art, however, depends entirely upon his mood and their approach.

Dreamer
Even when he's not indulging his artistic endeavors, Seraphin is a daydreamer. A lifetime of isolation has left him with a rich imagination, and while he keeps most of his fancies to himself, your character will likely be able to tell he's got his head in the clouds. He usually doesn't mind being interrupted, but take care: You may be drawn into a conversation about the inner lives of flowers, or be forced to endure musings about the various songs of raindrops.
